eShare to launch Online Trustee Forum
Following feedback gained from the successful Governance Seminar, eShare are launching an Online Forum to help support trustees within their role when planning for the future of their scheme.
On the 12th September, eShare held the ‘Pensions Governance in 2012’ Seminar. Speakers from throughout the industry, including The Pensions Regulator
and the PPF, came together to discuss the future of our industry and how technology has a key role in coping with the changes and helping schemes to raise their standards of governance.
Feedback from the Seminar has shown that the delegates present are realistic in their views of the future, the majority saying that they expect significant changes and increased regulation to occur in the coming years.
Presentations from the speakers detailed how they expect the pensions landscape to evolve into 2012. Alister Esam, Managing Director of eShare, took the discussions further and expressed his views on how technology can aid schemes with their governance. The key message being that technology must be used to help the people who do the work as well as to support the trustees.
“We have found the feedback gained from the Seminar very encouraging,” said Esam. “The world is changing and schemes are actively seeking technology to aid them with their governance issues. 88%* of our delegates expressed they were using some form of technology to help manage their current processes.”
A large proportion of delegates at the eShare Seminar were trustees; Reactions to the day’s presentations and proactive attitudes towards governance has prompted eShare to create an online discussion portal to support trustees in their role.
“We already host a Governance Forum aimed specifically at Pensions Managers,” said Esam. “It seems a natural progression to provide the trustees with their own community where they can network with their peers and discuss current issues which are or concern to them.”
As a large and ever increasing number of Trustees are already logging onto eShare, it seems natural that eShare should provide a forum where for eShare users as well as non eShare users to share information.
The Trustee Online Forum will enable trustees from any scheme to log onto the portal and discuss the latest issues affecting their scheme and to share their concerns and ideas with other trustees. For more information on how to join the online discussions, please call eShare on 0845 200 7829.
