"It was a highly inefficient way of managing the governance of the fund for all involved. We knew there had to be a better way, it was just a case of finding it."

Trustees to become more accountable
Trustes are once again facing increased pressure in this ever changing environment.
At the beginning of April, the Pensions Ombudsman questioned the effectiveness of the model for a pensions trust. In his view there is a better model - citing the example of hospitals, where trustees are made to explain their decision making processes and are accountable for their performance. The conclusions drawn by the Ombudsman are that pension trustees should take more responsibility and be held accountable for their decisions.
This will undoubtedly increase the burden placed upon the trustees in their already diverse and demanding role.
There is help available for trustees to aid them in performing their role, however, whether they receive this help is reliant on schemes providing them with the necessary tools.

Make your Secretariat's Life Easier
At eShare, one of the most common issues which we hear about is the burden facing the secretariat of the scheme. They are often the key line of communication between Trustees and the scheme.
The job of co-ordinating all meeting information, ensuring actions are carried out before and after the meeting and generally servicing the Trustees is usual no mean feat.
eShare has developed a secretariat package to help with this specific issue. "The eShare secretariat package is all the bits of eShare which help the make the secretariat and trustees lives easier" said Alister Esam, eShare's Managing Director. "People like it because it's easy to implement and saves them time."
