The DWP have launched an online social networking tool which enables pension scheme members to communicate directly with MP's.
The launch of the online forum forms part of the GenerationXperience campaign.
Minister for the pensions reform, Mike O'Brien said:
"As many of the popular social networking sites are orientated towards young Internet users, this is an effective way of talking to and listening to older people in the UK, and has great potential to reduce isolation and promote digital inclusion."
Using a web-based solution to reach scheme members was favoured as the most effective and appropriate tool following their recent research.
Their study concluded that over half of people aged 50+ have access to the Internet, and 1 in 6 people aged between 50 - 64 years are familiar with instant messaging, chatrooms and social networking sites such as FaceBook and MySpace.
